Privacy Policy — Conscious Fathers

Plain Language Summary

We collect very little data. When you fill out our interest form, we receive your name, email, and whatever you choose to share. Your submission is stored in a private Google Sheets spreadsheet and we're notified via Gmail. We use your information to connect with you personally and may send occasional updates about the Conscious Fathers project, such as new episode announcements or community events. How we follow up will be guided by what you tell us — if you're nominating a guest, we'll reach out about that; if you're looking for community, we'll keep you in the loop. We don't sell your information and we don't run ads. Our podcast episodes are embedded from YouTube — if you choose "Essential Only" in the cookie banner, YouTube won't load until you click play. That's it.

Who We Are

Conscious Fathers is a podcast and community platform operated by Adriel Hampton ("we," "us," "our") based in Carlsbad, California. Our website is consciousfathers.org.

What Information We Collect

We only collect information you voluntarily provide. We do not collect data automatically through cookies, analytics, or tracking technologies unless you consent to optional cookies.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information you provide to:

Connect with you personally — based on what you share with us, whether that's interest in the community, a guest nomination, or your own story.
Send updates about the Conscious Fathers project — including new episode announcements, community events, and other developments. These communications will be occasional and relevant.
Follow up on guest nominations — if you nominate yourself or someone else as a podcast guest, we'll reach out about next steps.

Our use of your information will always be related to what you tell us and the reason you reached out. We won't use your email for unrelated purposes.

How We Process Your Data

When you submit the interest form, your information is sent to a Google Apps Script endpoint that appends your submission to a private Google Sheets spreadsheet and sends us a notification via Gmail. These are Alphabet (Google) products, and their handling of data is governed by Google's privacy policy.

Your form submissions are stored in a Google Sheets spreadsheet accessible only to the Conscious Fathers team. We do not make this data publicly available.

What We Don't Do

We don't sell your personal information — not now, not ever.
We don't share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We don't use analytics or tracking pixels on this site.
We don't use automated decision-making or profiling with your data.
We don't collect sensitive personal information as defined by California law (e.g., Social Security numbers, financial data, precise geolocation, racial or ethnic origin, health data).

Cookies & Similar Technologies

Essential cookies: This site uses a single local storage entry to record your cookie consent preference. This is strictly necessary for the site to function as you've configured it and does not require your consent.

YouTube embeds: Our podcast episodes are embedded from YouTube using their privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). How these embeds behave depends on your cookie preference:

Essential Only — YouTube is not loaded until you click on a specific video. No connection to Google is made until you choose to watch.
Accept All — YouTube embeds load automatically when you visit the page. YouTube may set cookies related to playback preferences and usage.

Even in privacy-enhanced mode, playing a YouTube video will connect your browser to Google's servers and may result in cookies being set by YouTube. See Google's privacy policy for details on how YouTube handles your data.

Google Fonts: This site loads fonts from Google Fonts. Google may log your IP address and basic request data when serving these files. See Google's privacy policy for details.

Future cookies: If we add analytics or other non-essential cookies, they will only activate with your explicit consent through our cookie banner. You can change your preference at any time by clicking the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer.

Your Rights Under California Law

Right to Know — You can request what personal information we've collected about you and how we use it.
Right to Delete — You can request that we delete any personal information we've collected from you.
Right to Correct — You can request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
Right to Opt-Out — You have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not sell or share personal information, but you can exercise this right at any time.
Right to Non-Discrimination — We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

Do Not Track & Global Privacy Control

We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out request under California law. Since we do not sell or share personal information, no additional action is taken, but we respect and acknowledge the signal.

We also honor Do Not Track (DNT) browser settings. Since this site does not engage in cross-site tracking, DNT signals are consistent with our existing practices.

Data Retention

We retain form submission data in a private Google Sheets spreadsheet for as long as it is useful for communicating with you about Conscious Fathers. If you request deletion, we will remove your information within 45 days.

Children's Privacy

This site is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 16, we will delete it promptly.

Third-Party Services

This site relies on several third-party services, primarily from Alphabet (Google):

YouTube (video embeds) — used to host and display podcast episodes via privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com)
Google Apps Script & Google Sheets — used to process and store form submissions
Gmail — used to deliver form submission notifications to our team
Google Fonts — used to load typefaces for the site's design

Our site also contains links to other websites (ManKind Project, Good Men Project, etc.). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to read their privacy policies.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, if appropriate, notify you via the email you provided.
